Service Description: DLG's were collected as part of the National Mapping Program, and are being created for all parts of the USA. They are valuable base data for many types of water resource applications, including cartography, planning, permitting, modeling and analysis, field reference, land acquisition, and many other functions. They are among the most useful data sets for resource management in general.
This layer contains features pertaining to surface water resources, such as rivers, lakes, streams, canals, wetlands, and other hydrologic features. The data is presented in two layers - an "arc" layer showing linear features, such as shoreline; and a "polygon" or area layer showing features such as lakes and wetlands.
